Death is presented to a man (everyman) and all of mans friends run, escape, protect themselves.
The lesson learned if fairly obvious in my mind.
When someone is dying, no pleading or begging or cajoling will stop death and death will not be announced.
But that is not the true lesson.
The lesson is much more heart retching then that.
It is an understanding that you cannot take people or things with you.
People and things cannot help you.
Your life is an open book to God and He already knows where you are going. “I’m an open book to you;
even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking.
You know when I leave and when I get back;
I’m never out of your sight.”Psalm 139 beginning
We are told that He will separate the believers from the unbelievers. 31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.” Matthew 25:31-33
You can try to plead your case before God with your good deeds but good deeds won’t get you into heaven, and only God is worthy enough to plead your case.
“1Hear what the LORD says: Arise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.2Hear, you mountains, the indictment of the LORD, and you enduring foundations of the earth, for the LORD has an indictment against his people, and he will contend with Israel.” Micah 6:1-2
9I will bear the indignation of the LORD because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light; I shall look upon his vindication.” Micah 7:9
So the moral is even deeper still.
The lesson learned is actually a very pointed but unspoken issue that believers and unbelievers a like struggle with.
How are you assured you will be going in to heaven?
The Bible says that 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
But does this mean you now can go about your sinful life living as you previously have done and ignore the commitment you made.
We are all sinners and when we accept Jesus into our hearts we commit to following our new body (the Holy Spirit) instead of our old sinful body.
Paul says every day every moment, was a battle for him between his old self and his new self. Romans 8:13 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the...
