Via the internet, customers have the ability to go directly to the plant in their region and order directly from that plant. The CRM system provides real time wins, losses, probability, and financial summary, by region. “Policymakers and economists alike have begun to recognize more fully the importance of technology and productivity in economic growth.” (Chen, Pradeep, 2012).
The system also provides productivity information. It allows management to measure productivity by region, by plant. Managers are able to utilize the data to see which employees are the most productive. The CRM system tracks our suppliers, matching the orders placed, against deliverables. This assists the firm in identifying the premier suppliers. The suppliers are given a logon, and required to submit a quote for the goods that we need within 24 hours. The pricing they supply is automatically fed into our system, and is used in the calculation to see if the projected customer request is profitable based on that suppliers quote. The analysis is generated for the plants operation manager, and is helpful in the decision making process. The investment in technology pays for itself.
The customer centric secure web portal has increased sales due to the fact that it is accessible 24 hours a day. The restrictions of office hours are now eliminated, allowing customers to place orders at any time. I have advised the compliance officer that we need to ensure that our ABC Direct secure web portal is Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant, and that the necessary privacy controls are in place.
The components of the CRM information system include:
ABC Direct – Customer Orders
The customer centric secure web portal is where the deal begins. The sales force is still very active with institutional orders, but ABC Direct is for the consumer who knows what they want, and are ready to buy. The portal collects all the information we need to produce the product. The data obtained via portal collect the name, address, product selection, billing information, preferences, etc. This data is very valuable and used to better understand the demographics of our customer base, and will be utilized for future marketing campaigns.
Product Tracking System (PTS)
The CRM tracks the supply and demand of our line of products. The plants are able to track their inventory levels and production rates. The PTS provides insight into the manufacturing process. Rather then producing based on projected demand; we now produce based on real time. Depending on the product, orders have an eight week delivery date, which will provide more than enough time for the plants to produce a quality product. The real time monitoring allows regional managers to identify which regions may need assistance, and which regions may be lagging. This is a major benefit to the distribution channel of our products. The revenue generated is allocated based on the percentage...
