“The year was seventy three before curse, the place the five kingdoms thus named because there were five kingdoms each with their own leaders and for years they lived in peace thanks to the agreement known as the sectarian accord... that was until Vartan the Soulless took the throne of the human kingdom of Ravenspeak”
The self-proclaimed Lord Sovereign of the Five Kingdoms, was nothing more than a tyrant with a shadow as a master he began to enslave the poor of his land and imprison them in mining and lumber camps. It mattered not what race you were if you would not fight for him you would die a slave. Our story starts in a mine known locally as the Butchery, its tunnels deeper and expanded farther than any mine built by the dwarves of Ironhammer, many miners wondered why Vartan needed such a large mine.
The only chance of freedom for the souls trapped here lay across a monstrous ravine that was too far and too wide, that there was no hope of surviving the jump to the exit that sat on the other side. Vartan’s folly that is what one slave called it, his biggest mistake to date some called this slave a fool but he was no fool, the slave’s name was Hunter and he had a plan that would shake the foundations of Vartan’s reign.
Hunter was a man like any other born on the island kingdom of Drakes Fall many years ago although he kept the exact date close to his chest, but to gaze into his brown eyes and you’ll see that he has being through a lot. Hunter had scruffy brown hair that had small hints of grey and a stubbly beard; he had a very slim build.

Ozwin Stonebeard was a dwarvern slave, but he was not there by choice, unlike the other slaves that Vartan’s soldiers dragged in from their homes and Ozwin was a native of the mine and to him the slaves were his family. Ozwin like most dwarfs had a long beard, which along with his hair was a dusty brown colour, his eyes were a twinkling blue, which unlike many over slaves within the mine he eyes still retained their innocence.
Any number of people within the tunnels would tell you that Ozwin should not be there and it was for this very reason that Hunter made him the offer to escape with him, and two years of scrounging for equipment and parts, they were ready, ready to pull off the impossible ready to escape.
The eve before their escape Hunter and Ozwin sat by the ravines edge going over there plan one last time, Hunter sat quietly on the floor fiddling with his bow, while Ozwin was once again going through their plan.
“Ok first of all you'll attach that ring to the ceiling,” Ozwin said as he gestured to the ring on the floor, “you'll then attach a rope to it and you will then...” he then began to stroke his beard, “...then you'll, I know it was something to do with an...
