After Ozwin had left the basement, Faulkner remained cowering behind his crate listening to troll outside but as she sat things grew quiet and cold within the basement as the walls around him began to glow as flames began to spread around the room.
Faulkner began to panic as before him in the shadows of the flames, a faceless figure emerged and caused the flames to begin curling up his body like a snake and as he screamed in pain, the flames shot down his throat, which began to burn him from the inside.
As the sounds began to return the flames died away leaving no trace and Faulkner lay nothing more then burned out body.
As Hunter, Velendria and Ozwin entered the hut the first things smell of burned flesh in the air, which caused Ozwin and Velendria to gag violently, Hunter seemed to unfazed.
Ozwin walked over to the hatch and tried to open it but his hand flinched from the heat of the handle, “it’s too hot,” he said with his hand over mouth as he began coughing.
Velendria walked over to the basement hatch and as her glowed blue she pulled it open then gestured for them to wait as she entered shortly after she shouted up for Hunter to come down
Hunter then headed down into the basement and immediately found the smell was much more potent, “what happened in here, where’s Faulkner?” he asked looking over at her, she then pointed behind some ash-covered crates.
Hunter peered over and saw the charred skeletal remains of Faulkner, “we should talk outside, this smell is not one I am used to,” she said as she made her way out the basement.
Hunter stood for a moment his mind listing all the people and creatures that could do this but still came up empty.
Ozwin then cautiously made his way down and peered over the crates, “I swear he was alive when I left,” he said as he looked up at Hunter, “I gave him the bottle and he gave me the pendant and then I...”
Hunter shook his head; “unless you have magic and not told me, then you do not need to explain,” he said looking over at him, “come let’s get out of here, before you see your breakfast again.”
