Anna smiles as she feels his impatient thumbs trace over the bumps and grinds of her jeans. His hands are tracing invisible patterns along her hips in motions that gesture his affections. Anna sits patiently, sculpted still. She’s long surrendered to the exploring finger tips of her best friend. Whilst mapping out the length of her sweater, Jakes’ hands pause over Anna’s ribs, stroking the soft material lightly.
"What is this?" Jake asks innocently, his voice barely carrying over the sounds of small song birds chirping through the winds. They haven't had a summer night like this in weeks. It was a beautiful night that they wouldn't let anyone disturb. They’d switched off their phones, and crept away from all technology. It's a pleasant contrast to the stolen moments on the couch, just being able to stand outside and simply savour one another's presence.
“Describe it to me, please.” Jake moans before being cut off when cold hands cup his face, and he breathes the wish out in a whisper, causing her to tense up a little. Anna relaxes when Jake traces his own thumbs over her cheekbones.
"I will because it’s for you.” She answers, soft and easy. "It’s a grey striped shirt, made of that cotton you love, and it’s stitched in a teal blue.”
Anna lifts Jakes hands to touch the collar of the shirt, dragging his fingers over the stitching to demonstrate. "It’s a button up too." She shifts their hands until they graze the dark blue-coloured buttons nestled comfortably against her chest. A small smile quirks Anna's lips as Jake taps his fingers against it once before intertwining their hands over her heart.
She’s aware of Jake devoted curiosity -insatiable. He loves to know every detail of clothing, scenery, furniture. Anything she can feel, but not see in his mind. It gives him a certain measure of satisfaction that he's able to remember them without difficulty. Given motivation, Jake could rattle off her entire wardrobe without missing a single article.
Looking up at the night sky now, Jake smiles; it’s already cooling off some from the hours that they'd spent in this very same meadow, lazing in the sun.
They'd already experienced one summer together, in a new relationship and still a little shy around each other, but this year is different. There isn't any embarrassment this year. No matter what touched Jakes skin, he felt safe. He knew Anna would be there, looking out for him.
"We should head inside," Anna points out softly, she pulls her hands away from Jake for the first time in the whole day so she can pull up from the ground. She holds his hands out to help Jake up."It's going to rain soon, my hands are out."
Jake can sense it, too, can feel it in the air, the dampness, and the freshness of incoming rain. "I don't want to leave," he says, his lips pout slightly.
Anna laughs, reaching down to cup Jake cheeks. "You don't have to leave," she points out. "We just have to go inside or else you’ll catch a cold."
"I don't want to do that, either," Jake...
